Day 8

Wow, I can't believe our trip is just about over.  What an experience it has been!  We got to witness in an area where it doesn't get worked often, met some great people and saw  4 types of geography found in the west all in one state: the desert, red rocks, plains, and mountains!  What an adventure!  We've seen marmots, elk, deer and coyotes, some of the most beautiful sunsets and high alpine views.  I'm going to be sad to leave.  I wish we could stay.  We're already talking about when we could possibly come back out.

Today was a relaxing play day.  We decided to take the metro into the city of Denver.

We headed over to the 16th Street Mall.  It's an outdoor walking mall (sort of like the one in cville, but with more cross streets with traffic)
We found a heard of buffalo

super cute ice cream truck.  They saw me looking at their cart and that I was holding my camera and they said, "yes, please take our picture"!  They said that I could post them online because it would be free advertising.  So the next time you're in Denver, check out Petey Bird's ice cream sandwiches!

Denver has placed all these quirky public pianos all over the mall

For lunch, we popped into a little basement BBQ joint.  It was surprisingly amazing and Delicious.  The menu was written in southern drawl!  I ordered the pulled pork bbq sandwich with hush puppies.  It seriously was some of the best bbq I've ever had!
Then there it was: Cry Baby Ranch!!!!!!  When I was in high school, the travel channel covered this store and I immediately fell in love with it.  I've been drooling over their online store for years and today, I actually got to go in!!!!!!  It was soooo cool.  There was a gorgeous stained glass dome in the ceiling, tons of trendy cowgirl boots, cloths and nic-nacs.  The downside: they're REALLY pricey.  For example: one, ONE standard pillow case is $24.00.  So unfortunately, I left with only the business card :(  But it was so great to actually be able to go in there.

Since we were very tired and sore from walking, we got back in the car and went back over to Boulder to see the famous Hotel Boulderado.

It was like the Homestead/Hotel Roanoke shrunk down into an old corner brick building.  Absolutely beautiful.

Right now we're all packed and ready to hop on the plane tomorrow and head back home.

Day 7: Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP)

Absolutely breathtaking!!  There really are no words to describe this place.  Mainly just magnificance and awe.  So for this post, I'm going to let the pictures do the talking. (btw these pics are not in any order).
